Trading Platforms for Novice Traders
Any recommendations? I am using Equity Feed and it sucks.
I use and recommend Power Etrade PRO for charting and Level 2, not as a broker though...I use Sogo, Interactive Brokers and Thinkorswim as my brokers
A lot of people who use Interactive Brokers, Like to use NinjaTrader for their charts. Some like NinjaTrader as a platform to. NinjaTrader is free...for all the basic features. The IB platform is easy to use but it's java based which i have heard is generally less efficient than C++ code and thus executes slower. Think im full of shit? good!, here's a link to a study done by stanford:

/>But this study compares things like sorting algorithms, so as for trading i'd say actually what could potentially be more worth it is a really high speed internet connection. Your computer has to be decent....ok now back to the C++ vs java....the difference is going to be seconds / fractions of a second so...all in all it really might not make that much of a difference. Sorry for going off on a tangent but back to the point A lot of people don't like the charts from Interactive Brokers...i find that on the demo the charts sometimes get screwed up....but i haven't had a problem with the demo platform.
